POSITION OVERVIEW

The Videographer (Cameraman/Video Editor) – Consultant is responsible for planning, capturing, and editing high-quality video content that effectively communicates client and brand stories across digital platforms. The consultant will produce engaging, platform-ready content, maintain high production standards for picture and sound, and ensure all deliverables align with client brand guidelines while meeting project timelines.

KNOWLEDGE AREAS:

  • Professional videography techniques, including camera operation, framing, composition, and lighting.
  • Video editing principles, including pacing, storytelling, colour correction, audio synchronization, and sound mixing.
  • Digital-first content creation and platform-specific best practices for TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X.
  • Video production workflows, from pre-production planning through filming, editing, quality assurance, and final delivery.
  • Brand identity and visual storytelling to ensure consistency across client campaigns.
  • Current trends in digital media, social content, and video production.
  • File management, media organization, and video export formats for various digital platforms.
  • Health and safety practices when operating cameras and production equipment on location.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reports to: Producer & Creative Studio Manager

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Video Production & Editing

  • Review and identify the strongest footage to create engaging, story-driven edits.
  • Assemble raw footage into polished, story-driven videos from rough cut through to final delivery.
  • Edit video content using industry-standard software while maintaining exceptional production quality.
  • Incorporate graphics, motion elements, transitions, captions, and text overlays where appropriate.
  • Operate professional video cameras to capture high-quality footage for news, feature stories, documentaries, campaigns, interviews, and branded content.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to discuss creative concepts, shooting style, storyboards, shot lists, and content requirements prior to production.
  • Plan and execute video shoots that align with project objectives and creative direction.

Audio & Visual Enhancement

  • Synchronize audio with video footage.
  • Mix and balance sound effects, background music, and voiceovers.
  • Perform colour correction and colour grading to achieve a professional visual finish.
  • Ensure all final outputs meet technical quality standards.

Platform Optimisation

  • Adapt and optimise video content for multiple digital platforms including:
  • TikTok
  • Instagram Reels
  • LinkedIn
  • YouTube
  • X (formerly Twitter)
  • Resize and export content according to platform specifications and best practices.

Brand Consistency

  • Ensure all video outputs align with client brand guidelines, visual identity, and communication standards.
  • Maintain consistency across campaigns while tailoring content for different audiences and channels.

Collaboration & Project Delivery

  • Work closely with creative teams, project managers, designers, and copywriters to deliver campaign objectives.
  • Incorporate stakeholder and client feedback efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Manage multiple client projects simultaneously and deliver work within agreed timelines.
  • Organise project files and maintain version control throughout production.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Communications, Multimedia, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in video editing and content creation.
  • Previous experience working within a creative agency, media house, production company, or marketing team is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated portfolio showcasing high-quality digital and commercial video work.
